Our Objectives
PIDNET-Kenya is a network of multi-disciplinary health professionals in collaboration with Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEIs)/primary immunodeficiency (PIDs) patients and organisations formed solely for the purpose of furthering the public interest by encouraging the study, advancing the science and strengthening IEI/PID management in Kenya, the region and beyond.
1. Identification, Diagnosis & Management
To assist in the identification, diagnosis and management of patients with IEI/PID through capacity building to ensure this is done to the highest global standards.
2. Diagnostic & Therapeutic Guidelines
To participate in development and implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines for the management of IEI/ PID.
3. National Registry Development
To develop and maintain a national registry of children and adult IEI/PID patients.
4. Scientific Research & Reporting
To conduct scientific research and produce reports on aspects of IEI/PID in order to further improve the welfare of patients with IEI/PID.
5. Knowledge Sharing
To promote scientific knowledge sharing on IEI/PID among health professionals, patients and their families through conferences, meetings, seminars, discussions, reports and publications.
6. Public Awareness
To promote awareness, diagnosis and treatment of IEI/ PID among patients, families and the general public.
7. Educational Materials
To develop educational material for IEI/PID patients and their families to better understand their conditions and how to live with the limitations of these conditions.
8. Community Initiatives
To support community awareness and education initiatives delivered either directly through partnership with patient families or by liasing with patient and community organizations.
9. Advocacy & Empowerment
To promote advocacy for diagnosis and management of IEI/PID patients and support them to live optimally with these conditions i.e. for children to go to school and adults to gain skillful employment.
10. Resource Mobilization
To mobilize resources for the diagnosis and management of IEI/PID patients.
11. Networking & Stakeholders
To liaise with other IEI/PID patient organisations, networks and stakeholders to improve the general welfare of patients with PID/ IEI and their families.
